We were in the San Juans for the Fourth. It’s our favorite place to be.
This was our first time camping at the Red Mountain property. We needed the Jeep to get up there and so we utilized it while we had it. We continued up the Red Mountain road towards US basin and started up towards Ohio peak. On the way up I spotted US Basin Peak which I scrambled up while Jo continued around the basin towards Ohio Peak.
The conditions were awesome. The wild sunflowers were out. The entire hike was above treeline in the alpine which is my favorite. I frolicked down from US Basin and met Jo at the saddle below Ohio where an old miners hut was located. Together we climbed the rest of the way to the summit as the sun was going down.
We caught the sunset at the top. Enjoyed the rootbeer, and enjoyed a very very pleasant hike down.
