Mount Lemmon

Report

We had spent the day in Saguaro National Park and had a few hours to kill before sunset. We saw this peak in the distance and saw that you could drive pratically to the top. It was about an hour or so drive up from the 100 degree valley. It dropped signicantly to low 70s at the top. The summit itself has an observatory on it. We walked up the road and found the gate locked.

After looking around, we found a small trail that led around the fenced off obervatory. I debated including this peak on the list, but the little adventure we had when trying to find the trail and getting to the summit I found worthy to be included. It was a short .5 mile hike to the geologic marker and summit log. Tucked behind the obersvatory next to the fence was the summit.

Views were nice, Jo signed the log and we returned back to the hot valley below to check out some more cactus.
