This was a bonus peak while trekking to Truchas peak. East Pecos Baldy was the original objective for that weekend, but on learning that East Pecos Lake was the base camp for Truchas we altered our plans. However, I still felt like it’d be worth bagging this one while we were out there.
Having not slept at all during the night after having climbing Truchas, I got up an hour before sunrise and hit the trail. It was a relatively quick hike to the peak. Headlamped and blistered I marched my way to the top to catch the sunrise.
The way down I stumbled on some bighorn sheep in the forest. Never seen them below treeline before.
After a quick descent I woke Jo up, we packed up camp and began the descended the long trail back.
