While hiking around Creseted Butte last summer I decided I wanted to do a 30 before 30 involving peaks. A quick look around the PeakBagger app and I found Gothic Mountain.
We were a bit nervous about the weather with a risk of afternoon storms. The trail starts out steep and only gets steeper as it goes. For some reason it was a really mentally challening peak. Maybe it was the elevation? We had just moved back to the states and hadn’t been that high very often. But I really think it was the 3 or so false peaks we hit. Either way we pushed on and bagged the summit. After enjoying a celebratory root beer we headed back down before the rain came.
